Case competition

An opportunity to participate in the annual case competition organised by the Family Offices Association Hong Kong (FOAHK). Participants will have access to an exclusive training webinar and the opportunity to work closely with industry veterans. Shortlisted teams will receive mentorship from experts in leading banks, family offices, and asset management firms.

Family Wealth Management

The Family Wealth Management Module will help members of ultra-high-net-worth families gain a comprehensive understanding of investment strategies, risk management and wealth preservation.

module B

Startup Investment

Startup Investment Module will guide participants to construct a portfolio through a wealth management framework, instead of looking at startup investment in isolation, and it will also delve into global phenomena instead of limiting itself to Australia. Participants will also learn, on the hands-on level, how to engage with startup companies and founders of all fields.

Participants in Melbourne and Sydney can elect to participate in special site visits to startups, accelerators and financial institutions for a first-hand experience of groundbreaking technologies and investment opportunities.

Delivery Partner: Boson Ventures

Boson Ventures is a unique player in the Australian venture capital scene. It is the only Australian venture fund under Chinese leadership that operates with a mainstream approach. Among its general partners are a former founder, a seasoned asset manager, a strategy consultant, and various corporate executives. It adheres to a high-conviction investment philosophy, such that it will adopt a proactive post-management approach for all its portfolio companies; part of this includes, should the startup desire it, facilitated entry into the Asian market—an action especially viable in the evolving global landscape.

Patrick Sieb

Patrick was an investment banker for over 22 years working in infrastructure and technology, before becoming co-head and investment director for Investible’s AUD $100m climate tech fund, a leading early stage tech investor in Australia in the climate space. He has been active in the early-stage investment scene for the last 7 years, during which time he helped co-found an IoT startup, served on numerous boards, and engaged as a mentor and participant in various startup communities.

Sophie Liao

Notable investments: Brex, Republic, AngelListA veteran venture capitalist, Sophie Liao has been venture partner at Draper Dragon, managing director at Rothenberg ventures, and founding general partner of Oyster Ventures, where she continues to actively invest. Prior to venture capital, Sophie led business development at 3d tech producer Cameron Pace Group, and managed Mergers and Acquisitions at Eight Solutions and FFD labs.

Alex de Aboitiz

Alex is one of the foremost angel investors in Australia, and is an investment advisor for Airtree Ventures, Electrifi Ventures and Tank Stream Ventures. He is an advocate for Climate Tech and Clean Energy Infrastructure with over 40 global investments. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Harvard College and studied an MBA at Stanford. Alex was an early member and CFO of MercadoLibre, a leading ecommerce company in Latin America and also has experience at Citibank, BCG and Amazon.com.

Helong Huang

Helong is a Vice-President at YF Capital, a leading Chinese private equity firm co-founded by Jack Ma and David Yu. He specialises in life sciences and deep technology investing. Helong was previously associate director of Chinese Construction Bank and holds a PhD in molecular and cellular biology from University of Science and Technology of China.
